CII's Healthcare Committee Met CMDs of PSU Insurance Companies on Cashless Issue

NEW DELHI, India, July 30 -- The Confederation of Indian Industry issued the following news release:

CII facilitated the meeting of CMDs of the four PSU Insurance Companies and key corporate healthcare providers (CII National Committee on Healthcare members) in Delhi to address industry issues with the aim of bringing about a collaborative approach to support the growth of the Health Insurance Sector.

In a meaningful discussion that took place this morning, the group has come together on a common platform to establish a process whereby an immediate resolution can be brought about to the current situation related to cashless insurance. Over the next 30 days, the group consisting of insurers, third party administrators and providers will meet frequently to establish a methodology whereby a common understanding on packages for a select number of procedures will be arrived at.

The Group reiterated its commitment of working together through a structured process and a task force has been constituted including members from insurers, third party administrators and providers to standardize costs of treatments and to have a continuous dialogue on other aspects of healthcare delivery like quality and clinical outcomes. It was also emphasized that periodic engagement will be done at top leadership level at both public sector insurance and provider group.

It was mutually decided that CII task force members would work within timelines to resolve the critical issues between the stakeholders. Dr Prathap C Reddy, Chairman CII National Council on Healthcare and Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Ltd mentioned that participating hospitals have expressed their interest to give quality healthcare and cashless treatment.

Chairman New India Assurance Company, Mr. Ramadoss said that the patient requiring emergency and trauma services will be attended by all the pre 1st July 2010, through cashless scheme in all the TPA empanelled hospitals.
